The HandMade Pledge
Categories: NuvoFluxus

I Took The Handmade Pledge! BuyHandmade.orgThe Assemblagist just took the pledge. It was a rather no-duh moment.

Such pledges sequester well with my re-use and re-think motto.

Redesign means rebirth,

or so I tell myself.

It’s imperative that we, as humans, seek to redesign our cast-aways. My theory is simple -

if there is not a practical application for “used” items, they must then become ART.

Items utilized in the binding or the securing the adapational creation of the reconstructed object may be pristine — virginal in fact. This I know is true. One must intentionally dispense new glue and new staples, — it’s difficult and damn near impossible to re-use staples. Not only is it tedious, it’s annoying and difficult for arthritic hands to accomplish. So excuse me if I don’t recycle staples or PVA. PLUS, get this! Office Depot has green, red and blue staples. I kid you not! Colored staples! Who knew!?

Ooops, I’m rambling again.

After visiting Whimsical Women last weekend, I knew how my artistic head was screwed on…

Is there a nuvofluxus handmade pledge?” you ask.

Not as of yet,” I answer, “but we are diligently pursuing such an entity. You, dear readers, need to take the Assemblagist Pledge, as soon as one becomes available.”

Oooops, thought-processes keep getting waylaid by Magic Tuesday. Mail delivery, recycling pick-up, trash, and leaf/detritus pick-up all at one time. The dogs are wild for Tuesdays. It’s difficult to blog with such a racket in the background. Bet my neighbors really enjoy the symphony of howls and barks. You can’t tell it but I just went downstairs and made the herd come indoors so the neighborhood could enjoy a few moments of peace and quiet.

May Books for week one

I introduced book-folding to a 12-year old nubling at the dog park yesterday. Her name is Jordan and I gave her about 20 pages of “Animal Farm” and showed her how to fold each page into 8 pages. My little apprentice smiled as she worked and in no time created a fine first effort. She used a portion of the original book’s cover as her “book’s” cover. It felt nice to spread the folding word to the next generation of book-mites.

I describe my folding technique in a previous post, it’s easy to search and find it.
