“Dragonwyck”, a novel written by Anya Seton published in 1944, given to me by my mom in 1964 and still in on my bookshelf in 2014. What to do? Deconstruct the cherished book, of course.
My childhood room contained an entire wall of bookshelves — the previous owners of our home in Fort Smith used the room as their library/den. My parents loved this feature of the house. I don’t think they’d ever seen all their books in one place. Hundreds of books. Plus National Geographics from 1940s onward and dozens of volumes of Horizon and American Heritage. I consumed books for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack.
