I live with 1-9 in my head.
It’s the stitchpunk # 54. We aren’t sure what happened to 10-53, perhaps they are still in the design stage… but 54 made it out and is here in my Studi_o. The Machine is held at bay, for now at least. The River of Strange will overtop its banks soon and then, when interest rates plummet, The Machine may intervene. This eventuality is unnecessary but will still maximize the potential earnings. The Machine contains the Prophet Motive. While once it became the All-Mighty Dollar, now it merely coincides with the Unforgiving Dolor Magnanimous.
As machines become man-chines, let the world prepare. New world order? It will not be cheeseburger and fries. The new order will be Sal_ad. No meat substitutes.
See 9. Be 9. Act 9. Go roll down a hill and laugh at the grass. Be 9. Then wake yourself and become 54. Then you will be invited to my Studi_o.
Oh my my my… while perusing the book shelves yesterday, I came across a very old copy of The Little Lame Prince. This was one of my very favorite books as a child and most of it memorized over 45 years ago. Reading it again, now with internet access to the author information and wikipedia articles, brings it even more firmly into my mind.
Dinah Maria Mulock Craik. She of the Victorian era, was a prolific and compelling writer. My research will soon reveal more — as in how Mrs. Craik and her husband, George Craik, influence today’s SteamPunk movement. Isn’t it odd how when you become obsessed with knowledge and form of a certain topic, it is often obscured by current trends and fancies and then… just as you become completely enamored, the topic becomes pop culture and is somehow diminished in your eyes? Please, I beg of you all, do not let the spectacular movie “9″ destroy the ability of steampunk to amuse and enrapture me. Long live the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge. And one quick note here — watching HBO last night, we came upon Hellboy II The Golden Army and who’d a thunk it Steampunk? Surprise genius in that movie, I tell you.
But oh! the blessing it is to have a friend to whom one can speak fearlessly on any subject; with whom one’s deepest as well as one’s most foolish thoughts come out simply and safely. Oh, the comfort — the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person — having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together; certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then with the breath of kindness blow the rest away. –Dinah Maria Mulock Craik
I’ve known him for years although no one else around me is aware of this. The Scientist. The clues, available to those who would seek them, dictated my response to 9. The Experiment determines the outcome of the generational discourse. It is within the machine limitations of the intellect sought to derail the locomotion of progress. The gallery of My 9? And then, today, we receive this devastating news from our local small town scribbler:
While more than half of the state’s 100 counties saw their jobless rates decline from June to July, Beaufort County’s unemployment rate increased from 11.4 percent in June to 11.6 percent in July, a 0.2 percent rise. A year ago, the county’s jobless rate was 8.1 percent. Three months ago and six months ago, the county’s unemployment rate was 11.1 percent.
