Fluxus Lives and Never Dies

A question, posed by the Demonstrative Fluxus Administrator Cecil Touchon, answered thusly upon the Facebook Fluxus collective:

MacEwan Bottles

Battles for legitimacy rarely end in power alliance.

Flux is distinct from Fluxus.
Fluxus relates to an ongoing process.

Flux relates and inflates, describes and contains a physical body of work. It encompasses mathematical possibilities as well as a state of mind. The eternal quantifier with a legitimate definition in the confines of the material and dimensional universe.

Fluxus is emotion and art and without the sum of whole, there is no flux. Those who blatantly post the deliberate word to describe their activities (art-related) need to respect the process and consider whether fluxus is a viable determinant of their efforts.

Often it is not… but the art world is awash with poseurs, just as any cultural or sociological category is drowning in misappropriated terms. Think first to political and then to physiological destinations — conservative? radical? reactionary? The subculture of alienation?

I consider “Fluxus” to be appropriate only in a well-rounded universal sense and not to be applied to one event or process.

So the answer, therefore, to the question posed above is, “Yes.”

The Digital Salon contains much information about the Fluxus Movement. Please join with us in maintaining the fluxus momentum in a most propitious movement dictated by proper application of the term. It is pure pish-tosh, a ridiculous notion, to consider fluxus dead. Shall we of the Fluxus Movement be forced underground whilst continuing? Let us pray not. Is Fluxus Dead? Godlessalmighty stupid thoughts or designations — brought about by museum curators and star-washed crashlings who negate domestic ardor with flightless wings.

When Fluxus Dies, So Do We All.

In the words of Johnny Carson: “More to come”
